A civil rights icon with a voice that made Bob Dylan propose, GRAMMY award-winning R&B singer Mavis Staples has brought joy to fans of her pop and gospel ballads throughout a legendary career spanning 60 years. A close family friend of MLK Jr., Staples gave soulful voice to the equality crusade of the 1960s with her siblings as The Staple Singers, belting "message" songs like "Long Walk to D.C." and the original gospel hits "I'll Take You There" and "Respect Yourself.? Named one of Rolling Stone?s 100 Greatest Singers, Staples? new GRAMMY-nominated album One True Vine, produced by indie band Wilco?s frontman Jeff Tweedy, features new pop-gospel hits like her sunny rendition of Funkadelic's "Can You Get to That." Recently named NYC public radio WFUV?s Artist Of The Year, Staples will rock the house during this special show ? don?t miss out!
